Providing individual, couple, and family therapy in-person in Sault Ste. Marie and virtually across Ontario.
Welcome! Bienvenue!
My priority as a therapist is to create a safe space where self-compassion and growth are nurtured. As a couple and family therapist, I work with individuals, couples, and families as they navigate life’s challenges.
People see me when they wish to see a change in their life and need support or skills to find their way forward. I have experience working with diverse folks in areas such as anxiety, depression, infidelity, sexuality, intimacy, self-criticism, parenting, emotional regulation, and trauma.

About me
Growing up in Northern Ontario, I became passionate about improving the health of those in northern and other underserved communities. I’ve witnessed and experienced the challenges of navigating our healthcare system and understand it can be exhausting labour with many barriers. I recognize that working in the northern context requires care that is flexible and culturally sensitive and I strive to integrate these values into my practice.
Educational Background
I hold a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Guelph where I received training that focused on interpersonal relationships, attachment, and overcoming ruptures of trust and other forms of conflict. As a couple and family therapist, I believe relationships are one of the most influential factors in our development throughout all stages of life. I also believe relationships extend beyond the human interpersonal experience to include relationships with animals and the world we live together in.
I have a diverse academic background consisting of health science, human development, child and family studies, and neuroscience. In my graduate training, I became involved in research work that explored topics such as facilitating empathic communication in couple therapy, gendered division of emotion in couple relationships, and improving teletherapy delivery in rural communities.

Therapeutic Approaches
My approach to therapy consists of a dynamic balance between exploring self-acceptance while also striving for meaningful change.
Using a trauma-informed and strength-based lens, I am committed to working together with you to promote feelings of empowerment and help find meaning in your experiences and relationships. As a member of the queer community, I am also committed to providing care that is client-centred and informed by anti-oppressive perspectives.
Although my work pulls from several therapeutic models, my training background primarily consists of Dialogic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT). See below for a short description of each model’s principles
Dialogic Therapy is an approach that emphasizes open and respectful conversation between therapist and client, fostering a collaborative and empowering process for exploring, reframing, and resolving personal challenges and conflicts.
Solution-Focused Therapy is a goal-oriented approach that focuses on exploring a client's strengths, resources, and desired outcomes to foster empowerment, collaboration, and the development of practical solutions to their challenges.
Narrative Therapy is a collaborative and empowering approach that seeks to help individuals separate themselves from their problems by examining and reshaping their personal narratives, ultimately empowering them to create new, more positive stories about their lives.
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) is a client-centered approach that helps individuals identify, understand, and process their emotions as a means of facilitating personal growth and fostering therapeutic change. Through empathetic exploration and targeting emotional experiences, EFT aims to promote emotional awareness and transform maladaptive emotional patterns.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a comprehensive therapeutic approach that combines mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills to help individuals manage overwhelming emotions, improve relationships, and develop a balanced sense of self.
